Vancouver to Halifax

Team 1

Dates: Sunday, September 1st – Sunday, September 15th

Number of Days Riding: 12

Registration Fee: $1,995

Team 1: Total elevation approx. 9000m, total riding distance approx. 1700km

Start Location: Join the rest of the team in Vancouver. You’ll participate in our orientation sessions, go for a training ride on the 2nd, ride to BCCH on the 3rd for the launch and officially kick off the event on the 4th from White Rock and finish your ride on the 15th at SickKids. The address for the hotel in Vancouver and finish location in Toronto to be announced by June, once the routes are confirmed.

Destination: Toronto – more information with exact location to follow.

Minimum Fundraising Target: $10,000*

Minimum Rider Level: Intermediate level. By the start of the event, you should be a confident rider, able to descend safely and be able to ride multiple century rides in a row. You should be riding 600km total per week for training. The National Kids Cancer Ride will work with you in the lead up to the event to get you to this level if you aren’t currently. Failure to properly train may result in your cancelled participation. Training programs will be released by March 2019

Accommodation: The National Kids Cancer Ride covers accommodation in Vancouver between September 1st and the 4th. While on the road you will sleep in a stationery transport truck in bunk beds. Bedding provided by the rider

Meals: The National Kids Cancer Ride covers all meals from breakfast on the 2nd until your departure on the 15th.

Getting to and from Ride: Stage Riders cover the cost of their flight to Vancouver and must find their way home from their chosen end location in Toronto (this could be Sick Kids, Etobicoke, Barrie, etc.) You must confirm your end location by August 20th for logistics purposes.

Team 2: Total elevation approx. 19,000m, total riding distance approx. 2500km

Start Location: Join the rest of the team in Vancouver. You’ll participate in our orientation sessions, go for a training ride on the 2nd, ride to BCCH on the 3rd for the launch and officially kick off the event on the 4th from White Rock and finish your ride on the 15th at SickKids. You’ll participate in our orientation sessions, go for a training ride on the 2nd, ride to BCCH on the 3rd for the launch and officially kick off the event on the 4th from White Rock. Calgary to Winnipeg

Team 1

Dates: Friday, September 6th – Tuesday, September 10th

Number of Days Riding: 4

Registration Fee: $1,245

Team 1: Total elevation approx. 3900m, total riding distance approx. 680km

Start Location: Join the National team in Calgary. You’ll join the rest of the team when they ride into Calgary. This is our Calgary Day of Action where a number of one day riders will join the team in Lake Louise at 7:00am and ride into Calgary. Your day will include a visit at Alberta Children’s Hospital the afternoon of the 6th. There will be 2 options for you to start, Lake Louise/somewhere along the route in the early morning or later in the afternoon at Alberta’s Children’s Hospital. Address and more details for the start location will be announced by June, 2019 once the routes are confirmed

Destination: Winnipeg – GoodLife Fitness Winnipeg Regent West.

Minimum Fundraising Target: $3,000*

Minimum Rider Level: Intermediate level. By the start of the event, you should be a confident rider, able to descend safely and be able to ride multiple century rides in a row. You should be riding 300-400km total per week for training. The National Kids Cancer Ride will work with you in the lead up to the event to get you to this level if you aren’t currently. Failure to properly train may result in your cancelled participation. Training programs will be released by March 2019

Accommodation: While on the road you will sleep in a stationery transport truck in bunk beds. Bedding provided by the rider.

Meals: The National Kids Cancer Ride covers meals from dinner on the 6th until your departure on the 10th.

Getting to and From Ride: Stage Riders organise their own transportation to the start and end location.

Start Location: Join the National along the GTA corridor, exact start location must be confirmed by September 1st. You’ll join the rest of the team when they ride into Toronto. For you, the day will include meeting many Ambassadors and families along the route, a visit at Toronto’s SickKids and Halifax’s IWK. There will be multiple options for you to start, xxx or xxx. Address and more details for the start location will be announced by June, 2019 once the routes are confirmed

Destination: Halifax – more information to come.
