I am blessed with a smart, witty and beautiful 15 year old daughter Hannah who is the love of my life. She gets the first too adjectives from me, and definitely her looks from her mother. For all of that, I am truly grateful. They are the reason I ride.
Hannah & I get our passion & commitment to fighting cancer from her mom, Kim. You see, Kim was diagnosed with cancer and given days to live, 2 days later my sister, Joanne, was diagnosed and given months to live. Unfortunately my sister earned her wings and thankfully, Kim is alive, healthy and thriving 11 years later. Some would call her a miracle, I call it hope. Hope that all of us choose to make a difference and do our part to increase those miracles, make them a guarantee. I could not imagine hearing the words “Hannah has cancer”, nor should any parent have to hear that dreaded words. So let’s stand up and fight back.
So when asked to band together with 7 other crazy individuals to cycle 24/7 across this country in less than 9 days, I jumped at the chance to take part in this 10th Anniversary of the ride during Canada’s 150th birthday year and do my part to make a difference. It will be my third time across the country in support of kids cancer and I am proud to say I am part of the greater than $10 MILLION raised by the ride to date. We are making a difference. We are CHASING a cure.
So come along for the journey with ordinary people doing an extraordinary thing in the hopes of kicking the snot out of a far too common disease, kids cancer.
Choose to be involved, choose to make a difference.
