Day 7 dedication was read by Lynn. This day we rode for Ty. As usual an emotional start to our day.
Day 8 dedication was for Amara. We met Amara and her family at the Winnipeg cancer centre at the end of day 7. Amara’s mom, dad and brother were also there. Her mom gave a very emotional talk about Amara’s fight and the toll that cancer is having on Amara and her family. Nobody should have to go through this!
Day 7 ride took us from Glenboro to Winnipeg. A cool day with light rain in the morning but dry in the afternoon. Some sections of rough road and another day of wind in our face made for a challenging day. Again our team worked well together to share the load. We had a great stop in the afternoon at one of the local schools. We were greeted by all the kids Outside the school and did a ride by high 5 with them all. Angie gave a great talk and questions and answer session with the students in the gym.
Our dinner was sponsored by the Winnipeg jets – their mascot and team reps met us at the hospital.
Day 8 ride took us southeast from Sioux Narrows to Fort Francis. A cool day with easterly winds again. But yeah – no more flat roads. Sone awesome rolling hills and smooth surfaces made for a fun day of riding. A faster ride with an average of 29.8.
Our dinner in Fort Francis was sponsored By Tessa – also known as Tessa’s kitchen. Tessa has been providing the meal for NKCR in Fort Francis since 2012. Thanks so much Tessa for welcoming us into your home and for the amazing meal.
Looking forward to day 9.
