Why am I participating on this journey? Fortunately our children grew up relatively health, but we have lost some family members to cancer, and although it is terrible to loose someone to this disease, it is completely unfair for a child to gain their wings and leave this world. Our involvement with childhood cancer began with a little girl named Ivy Sue where our youngest daughter was her family nanny. To watch what her and her family went through was a real eye opener for us. We felt compelled to do something so I entered into my first charity ride and with the help of friends and family I was able to raise the money needed to participate.
The following year I wanted to ride again and with some persistent convincing I talked Corrie into riding with me. Until we got involved with these charity rides we didn’t realize just how many children are affected by cancer and how great the need is to find a cure. With our fundraising goal doubled to enter the two of us, we needed to find a way to raise money that would hopefully become an annual event. With the help of a couple of friends, Duel It was born. During the creation of our duelling piano event we were fortunate enough to meet Dominic and the Rooney family and fell in love with that little boy.
My wife and I have become very passionate about doing what we can to realize a world beyond cancer, with our fundraising ability and my love of cycling, CTCACF, SNKCR, and Tour for Kids is a perfect fit for us.
