National Kids Cancer Ride

Late shift

We started our shift at 2:00 am and the weather was actually very warm 17 degrees and light winds. Who would have thought that we would have to travel to northern Ontario to get warm weather.

The incoming group warned us of dangerous roads ahead. This section of the trans Canada highway has virtually no paved shoulder and is a single lane each way. When you factor in transport trucks traveling at speeds of 120 Km per hour and sections of pot hole filled highway you have very tricky riding conditions.

As we arrived in Blind River the decision was clear that for safety reasons we should shuttle forward to safer roads.

We have to keep in mind that in the end we are here to raise money for children’s cancer by riding our bikes  safely across Canada.
