What can I say… it still seems so surreal that I am really here. I am really riding with 36 other cyclists with the passion and dedication to helping children from Coast to Coast reach a future without kids cancer.
We started our day with a wonderful breakfast provided to us by Cora’s and then back to the trucks to get ready to go. We began with a dedication to a brave little hero named Alexander. We heard his story, his love of life and then were sent on our way. With tears in my eyes, convinced there is no way I was going to be able to make it to even our first rest stop at 54km we headed out on our way.
I can’t thank the volunteers and my fellow riders enough… they saw that I was struggling this morning and needed convincing that I am able to do this and they all stopped with a word of encouragement or a NKCR hug to remind me that we are all here for eachother and finish as a team. We made it to our first rest stop and topped upon food and drink, had my chain looked at then on our way to lunch. Feeling better about today’s ride by then and fueling up again with a wonderful lunch we headed off for our final rest stop where we met a wonderful lady ho will be launching a Camp Quality right in Vancouver!!!
So to sum it up, another fantastic day with an amazing group of people who really treat you like family from the start. I can’t think of any better way to ride from Coast to Coast ~ aside from getting this amazing opportunity to experience this with my wonderful husband by my side.
